Bio

I received an MSc in Computer Science from Delft University of Technology and an MA in English Literature and Linguistics from Leiden University, both in the Netherlands. I then went to the University of Cambridge in the UK, where I received an MPhil in Computer Speech, Text and Internet Technology, and then a PhD (2011) in speech recognition with Mark Gales. I stayed at the University of Cambridge as a Research Associate (postdoc), working on speech recognition and second language assessment. In 2015, I joined Apple, initially working on speech recognition and later federated learning with differential privacy.
